Perfect size for a Phantom. Make it easier for it to go home. ;)

    G'Day Dave,

I went for the 490kv option and have both the 17 and 18" props to test out with them.

I have a set of 550mm booms, but am interested to try a coax setup as well.

    Cheers

    Chris

Thats a big boy motor. I am interested in trying a coax setup too with 16" props with the U5's.

Hoping to achieve good results with headroom to spare. I'm finding the predicted results from eCalc have not been as good as expected with the last build, so hopefully this time around the performance will be what I'm after.

I also have some 490KV U7s but have not figured out what I am going to do for motor mounts for them yet. They are so large that they do not work with the standard or heavy lift mounts from QC. In another thread, Patrick Thompson put a design out there for them, but to work in a coax set up I think we need to space out the boom clamps a little further to get access to both ends of the bolt. In addition to using metal frame clamps, I was wondering if anyone thought it was prudent to use 2 clamps on each end of the mount to make sure there is no slipping. If anyone has a source to have these cut from carbon fiber please let me know. I am anxious to try these out. Attached is the specs on thrust from Tiger for anyone who has not yet seen them.

    G'Day Michael,

Have you tried the carbon mounts that Gary mentioned from famous hobby, they look longer than most other mounts, and may get the press nuts out from under the motor base?

    Cheers

Could someone who has the famous hobby motor mounts measure the distance between the insides of the press nuts? I'm trying to find out if they could be used on U7s. Thanks!
