    Hello everybody,

    My preorder is about to arrive in a few days and will migrate to GH4 and will be our main video cam over 5D Mark III.

    I have been using 5D Mark III since it came out and EF 24mm IS f2.8 was the lens I put on the camera %99 of the time.

    I have not ordered any lens for GH4 but, I'd like to learn which lenses you guys are using.

    Since I want GH4 combo to be a lightweight setup, my first choice would be Olympus Zuiko 12mm f/2.0. The lenses on my spot are:

    Olympus Zuiko 12-40 f/2.8 (I read very positive reviews about this lens and I'm sold actually)
    Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 (Has OSS on the lens, don't know if it works flawlessly)
    Olympus 9-18mm f/4-5.6
    Panasonic 7-14mm f/4
    Olympus 17mm f/1.8

    I'd like to hear your choices and experience over the M43 lenses for mainly videography.

    Panasonic 12-35mm works great for me on my GH3.

    I plan on using the 12-35 on mine when it hits the curb next week.
    I'm also at the Zuiko primes.

    What SD card(s) do you all plan on using?

    Thank You,
    Jeff

    Well, I have Lexar 600X Pro SD cards. They should work. If not, will have to buy couple of Sandisk Extreme Pro.

    Jeff, Steve: Do you turn on OSS on Panasonic 12-35 when using M5/M10? With Canon 5D MKIII setup, I see the benefit of IS on brushless gimbals too. That's why Panasonic 12-35 may be a better choice over Olympus 12-40 of which I read about some great reviews.

    So far I have left the stabilization in the lens enabled. But it does create some odd effects when there is flare like shooting directly into the sun. I do intend on disabling it eventually.

    GH4 arrived today.

    Sandisk Extreme Pro and Lexar 600X cards work flawlessly for 4K video recording.

    I put Zuiko 12mm f/2.0 for now; it was easy to get. Super small and lightweight lens. I haven't flown it yet; I'll see how it will perform in the air.

    Update: I have now disabled my 12-35’s OIS, and I can see the video is noticeably smoother. Interesting.

    Are there any main times you notice the video being smoother with the OIS off?

    I was meaning maybe sideways shots where the OIS is maybe trying to stop the sideways movement. Are there any particular instances where your finding it smoother in terms of particular movements. Or is it just smoother all the time?

    I've been using the Olympus 12/2.0 lately and I am very happy with it.

    A little update on this topic:

    I have been using these three lenses on GH4:

    * Rokinon 12mm T/2.2 m4/3 lens
    * Olympus Zuiko 12mm f/2.0
    * Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8

    So far, I have been very happy with Rokinon 12mm and Olympus 12mm. For light setups, Olympus 12mm is a great deal. Rokinon is also very light and the result is very very good.

    I'm using Panasonic 12-35 is only for stills.

    I also use this Rokinon 12mm T/2.2 for Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera and it works there also very good.

    I have been using this Speedbooster knock off from China and the Tokina 11-16 f2.8 on my GH4 with very nice results. A bit heavier, but I find the image quality is superior to some of the M4/3 glass.

    First off amazing company and forum! Appreciate all of the great info/advice. After combing through the various threads I finally got around to registering for the forum.

    Has anyone tired the Lumix X lens? We do various inspection work and many times the objects we are flying around are too sketchy to get close enough to get the level of detail we require. Also a bit concerned about getting useable footage under full zoom given the movement and vibrations of the UAV. Any advice/feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Ryan

    We have the Lumix X lens that we used to test the remote zoom. As far as glass quality I would compare it to the 14-42 kit lens.
    With the MoVI I have gone up to 85mm FOV without any vibes. Just add a bit of expo for smoother gimbal transitions.
