New mini power distribution board for 6 or 8 BL-Ctrl (V3 too?))

This look like new option to put the BL-Ctrl out on the arms, perhaps keep them cooler. Maybe even shrink tube them for protection?
It has 8 molex connectors for the Esc, and one more for the FC. Also has a buzzer connector. If I was doing a rebuild I think I'd avoid the large unprotected power ring, like I have on my two MK birds.
Looks like it can be used for a CS6 or 8.
Also appears it is used with the new BL-Ctrl V3

This is really interesting. I would love to get this as an alternative to the all-in-one board. I wonder what its current capabilities are? Can it handle the same high current as the big PDB?

I very much doubt it -- not with the scale of the PDB and the fact that it uses a Dean's connector and, oh, maybe 18 gauge wire. :(

I wondered about that too, but it did have those wires going to V3 Esc. Maybe you could just solder blob them all together? lol

As long as it's a BFB (Big Fine Blob) of solder -- but then the issue is the thickness of the copper BTB (between the blobs) and the current carrying capacity it might have...

Holger has confirmed that the mini8 board will handle big currents. Here’s what he wrote to me in an email:
The Current capability of the Mini8 is really high. You can solder the cables so close together, that the solder will increase the copper thickness.

Now if we can get Quadrocopter to stock these.
I just checked the MK store, and the mini8 is €14.95, but shipping is €29 to the US. :(

Good to know that Steve. Perhaps a group buy would reduce the shipping costs? But it might be worth checking to see if the QC will be carrying the product as you say.

We should ask Adam. I'm quite keen on at least having this as a backup.

If I was going to use single BL Ctrl 3.0s, I would use a beefy power distribution board for the current, and use these MK mini boards for I2C connection. That would be clean setup as well.

    Synopsis of response from Adam:
    1. Yes, he can start sourcing that part.
    2. He's experimented with the single BL-Ctrl 3.0 on the Cinestar and found that arranging them on the hub in a wheel/spoke layout doesn't work as they stick out over the outer periphery of the top hub. Similarly laying them end-to-end circumferentially doesn't work as there's not enough room on the circumference. He wonders (a) what Holger's going to do for the OktoXL, and (b) whether stacking them cordwood-style in groups of two or four might work.

I suggested that mounting them on on the inboard section of the booms might be another possibility, but that's just an baked/2 idea.

    Andy.
