I don't know if this happened through use or if it's normally this way, but I noticed that the wire near the back of the M5 has a sheeth covering that isn't really attached to anything and seems frayed. I haven't done anything extreme with it, but I'm wondering if I should remove the ziptie and stuff it back in there and re-tighten it.

If it's purely aesthetics then I wont bother, but if it has to do with protection of the wire/preventing too much bending then I'd like to give it a fix.

    Shaun:

Yes, remove the ziptie and re-insert the sheathing. All that has happened is that has worked its way back out. It's not "frayed" -- that's just the natural state of that kind of sheathing.

Thanks Andy, Should I put with within the rubber outer sheath? Or should I put it around all the wires and secure it with the ziptie

I'd put it within the heatshrink (rubber) sheath -- it's all about protecting the inner wires, so let that be your guide. :)

Hey guys thanks for the concern. I just cut the ziptie and put the sheath OVER the rubber heat strink since it was too frayed to put inside it. I then re-ziptied making sure it was securing the rubber heatshrink to the frame.

I tested it out with no problems, I wanted to make sure there wasn't any significant bending in the wire.

I know it's not pretty, but it feels pretty solid in there, and the extra zip-ties kind of restrict the bending in the area.

Gary and Andy, I've contacted the support team, I will post what they say!
