I'm driving the HDMI converter at +5, Dave. It works fine with the Sony CX760 and the Canon 5D Mk III. I'm using it without the jumper, of course as I'm running Never The Same Color (NTSC). I've not measure the converter's temperature, but I will, the next time I fly. Andy
So why does it say no vaild signal NTSC with the plug on and PAL with it off? I will try it again with the plug on and see if the CX730 image improves. BUT WHY nothing from the NEX5 and the Canon 550D!? They work when plugged into my monitor directly so they are giving a signal out, its just net being seen by the FF converter
I have the Sony 760 and hdmi board and get no image when recording at 60p. 24 fps works but no menu information. These two problems rendered it useless for us and now it is in the parts box. Of course we don't get any menu info with the composite out either and use Andy's ugly solution of blurred images for stills and crossed fingers for video.
HI Morgan, I just double checked on mine and I get ouptut at 60P while recording. Go into the sony menu and set the HDMI output for 1080i. This will help the HDMI board to run cooler anyway. Best, Tabb
I seem to be having an issue with my Canon 7D on the MONDO 5.8 and HDMI. the output is black / white . camera is set to PAL...jumper is in place. It says: IN - NO SIGNAL OUT NTSC When I do have a signal and video feed : IN - 720x480p60 OUT NTSC Still Black / white Is this because the Orange wire is not connected to anything ? what would I connect to ?
Where is the orange wire, please? On my FF HDMI converter there is a locking plug with four wires: Red, two Black and White? If by orange, you actually mean Red, then yes, that should be connected to +5v -- there's no power going to the FF Converter if it's not connect -- but I suspect that the "orange wire" might be something else? Andy.
Bye Orange i mean the orange wire coming from the Mondo Stinger end. There was an extra wire that didn't mate with the 4 wires from the HDMI convrter. Lemme know your thoughts.
OK. On the micro-Molex connector coming from the Mondo Stinger, the orange wire on my system is not connected to anything. Only the black (ground) and yellow (composite video) are connected to the camera, but the HDMI converter works fine (no jumper, NTSC) with both the Canon 5D Mk III and the Sony CX-730. What else could be causing the problem, I wonder....let me double check the Sony CX760 again and make sure it's still working -- I've been running with the 5D Mark III for the past few days. Andy.
I have this unit installed with Sony Nex 5n and I do have the same problem as some other here. IN - NO SIGNAL OUT NTSC The Nex manual tells me that is autoselectable to NTSC/PAL and I have tried both with and without jumper. I have also activated HDMI : setup --> ctrl for hdmi---> on I do have a regulated 5V power into the FF unit on black/red cable and the little red ligt is on. White cable from to soldered to yellow one on TX Second black cable to the black cable on TX I also checked the 5,8GHz TX/RX with my Gopro and it works fine. Any suggestion? Pretty anoying using time on a quite expensive unit
Affas: Do you have any kind of TV or monitor with an HDMI input -- can you use that to verify that you are getting an HDMI signal out of the Nex, please? I'm not saying that it is the Nex that's at fault, just trying to troubleshoot by testing that there is HDMI signal coming out of the camera. Thanks Andy
Sounds good. Then, once we know you are getting HDMI out, then it will point towards a problem with the HDMI Converter. Andy.
I believe I found the issue. It appears that the internal contact element inside the HDMI jack is bent / damaged. Also noted poor solder joints and mechanical attachment needed (but I could be over-inspecting) I will contact QuadCopter for a replacement / exchange . Thanks
When I, <cough>, landed my C8 in a tree (that was tree #1 for those keeping score), the HDMI connector came right off the HDMI adapter -- but the really strange thing was that when I offered it back up to the HDMI adapter it fit perfectly. Looking at the soldering, it looked like it was borderline with being a dry solder joint, however, because of the "arboreal encounter" I reasoned that it was unfair to claim that it was faulty manufacture. Based on what you're seeing, though, Tom (or is it Eric posting?) it looks like the soldering might be a bit suspect.... Andy.
Got myself a mini-HDMI to HDMI cable today and the Nex was connected to my homecinema with great success.... So I think there is something wrong with the FF card?
Affas: Yup. I think you are correct and the HDMI card is bad. But now at least we know for certain that the Nex is emitting HDMI. Andy.
Sigh....and it gets worse. If you set the CX760 to record at 1080p60 at the highest quality, it kills the output to the mini-HDMI port entirely -- the screen just goes black. So no point in having any HDMI converter, I am sad to report. Andy.
Do you still have this problem? I have mine set at 1080p60 and do get output from the mini-HDMI and successful conversion from the FF converter and I get sucessful tranmission. What I dont' get is successful transmission of the SD output. I uase a Lawmate 1500mW 1.3 GHz Transmitter US version. I use channel 1280. The receiver is 1.2GHz Lawmate 8Ch Wireless A/V Receiver UPGRADED SAW FILTER . Go figure. Anybody else experience either of these?
Hi Colin: Last time I checked (a week ago) I was not getting HDMI output when I started to record -- the HDMI downlink went to black. Maybe I have some other setting wrong, but it most certainly was not outputing video during recording. I'm using a Mondo Stinger 5.8Ghz for the HDMI to SD downlink... Andy.
Well, I experienced this "black out" for the first time today. I stood there dumbfounded for a minute, but I recycled the camera and it seemed to fix it. So, I changed my workflow to power up copter, then turn on camera, then hit record, and it worked fine.
