So a bit clarity on my solder suggestion. Tabb pointed out that something like this Kester solder, http://www.amazon.com/Kester-Rosin-...&ie=UTF8&qid=1361653998&sr=1-2&keywords=63/37, is easier to work with since it has a lower operating temp that a tin/silver/copper mix. The Kester lead mix has a melt point nearly 50C less than the Qualitek tin/silver/copper. Since the Qualitek needs more heat that means you need a soldering station capable of getting that heat output especially if you are soldering EC5 or the like.
