    Hey Everyone!

I'm having a difficult time getting my CS8 + wk-m to fly correctly. Everything seems fine and dandy when I first take off, but after about a minute and a half of flying, the multirotor just flipped.

I check my power and connections and everything seemed good, battery was still mostly charge and registered all cells.

I'm running the newest wookong-m software 5.14. Could that be an issue?

If anyone has any input/ideas much appreciate!

    Thanks,
    Wes

    Hi Wes:
Sorry to hear of the FOD (Flip of Death). I'm afraid I don't have any experience of WK. There are other members of the forum who are flying WK so they may be able to answer your question.

    Andy.

    Thanks for the reply Andy.

To be more specific, I did two separate flights before it crashed. Each flight was a minute each. After I flew for 1 minute, I landed and checked wires/battery/esc's for heat and any sign of problems. Everything seemed to be running good. So I changed the battery for a fully charged battery to do a 3 minute test flight, and thats when about halfway through it flipped on me.

    Thanks,
    Wes

    Hello Wes,

Please have a look at this video:

There were some "older" versions of WKM that caused people some problems similar to what you are describing.
    Greetings
    Adam

Is the gimbal mounted camera or CineStar8 that?
If only CineStar8, causing it to flip at the center of gravity has become unstable if the top heavy?

Cinestar 8 with the 360 gimbal + 3.25 lbs (1.5kg) of weight attached to the gimbal.

I did a couple of faster forward and backward moves before the crash, but the crash happend when it was hovering still in the air.

Hey Wes, I don't know much about the DJI gear but apparently all WK-M units sold since June have a compass issue which can cause catastrophic in flight failure in the form of machine flips. This was announced a few days ago. There is quite a bit of discussion and chatter about this on various forums online. Perhaps that is something you should investigate and look into. At the very least I'd make sure your system is not part of that batch before flying it any further.

    Wes,
Did you check / are you sure you COG and IMU/GPS mount locations are correct ?
Also check your ESCs. Do they have a control interface ?

    Thanks for the reply KnightDesigDev,

I found out a couple of days ago, after getting more time to work on my project, that 4 of my 8 ESC's have a different firmware on them. They are Cobra 40amp ESC. I don't know why half are different (different beep tones, different programming sequences, etc...). So I'm sending them back to get the correct ESC's.

I also did a test flight with hexacopter that I'm helping work on, which is using a Hoverfly Pro board, and all I can say is wow! I really like the Hovefly, flies very nice. So I think I'm going to ditch the Wookong for the Hovefly.

I'll post another update when I get things back together again! Can't wait.

Do you have the old or new GPS for the WKM. The old has two black edges on it and the new one is solid white when looking from the top. The new one has bad firmware which causes the flip of death because of the firmware.
