The U7 motors arrived today but I'm still in need of the motor plates. Found in place in Canada that has them in stock. Hopefully they will be here within the next 4-5 days.

Why am I so excited! Kind of funny. Could you snap a photo with one in the palm of your hand, maybe with a coin...just to get an idea of size :)

Here's two pictures I took with my crappy phone. The motor is sitting on top of a CD in the bottom pic in case you can't make it out.

Nice, thanks Dave. Can't wait for the flight results from these beast!

The flight times so far are crazy, I've got a Skyjib X8 that weighs 9kg with 2x9000mah 6s, kw10 motors with 15x5 xoar props, herkules III esc which also has active free wheeling, hovers at 50% throttle, flight times are only 13min. Thats quiet a big increase in flight time, to get 20min. Im starting to think i need some U series motors.

Well the Cinestar motor plates that I used for the U5's work with the U7's!!! Barely!!! But they work.

Here's some pics of the U7's and the U5's.

Wow, what a size difference! Those U7s will have power to spare without breaking a sweat? I just hope you're able to get flight times close to what you were getting with the U5s. Looks like we won't have to wait much longer for results :) what size props will you test first?

Btw, some folks are removing the shaft hex bolt and adding a drop of loctite to the threads. Something I will be doing once I have a set in hand.

Just realized these plates won't work because the press nuts do not pretrude the base of the motor. The bolts need to go through the press nuts. Oh well hopefully I will get the new plates in about a week.

Will you run larger props on the U7s to make up for the extra weight of them?

I wont need to. With 15" inch props they put out 1600 grams of thrust at 50% throttle. I might need to even go down to 14" props.

Maybe I've missed something, i run 15" soars on kw10 motors which are 500kv 3515s, but I'm not making that kind of power. For example say you had a u7 and a tiger 3515, that were both the same kv, they would both make the same lift? But the u7 could run even larger props and pull more amps? Maybe my flight times are so much shorter due to running coax?

Ryan the U7's and the 3515 motors are no where near alike. I can't pull up Tiger's website right now as its down but when I do I will give you some data. BTW: I haven't run U7's yet, I have been running U5's.

Dave, I had saved the specs for both. Here they are.

Here's the U5 specs. The 3515's are close in thrust specs to the U5's that I have been testing. However the U5's are more efficient and the new MK electronics are more efficient as well. I am not an expert on any of this but it appears that many say that a X4 is not as efficient as a straight 8. I also have heard that the I2C converter loses power but that's just what I have heard some say on this board. I also have been running brand new batteries as opposed to batteries that have been used and been cycled many times. I believe there's at least 1 minute of flight time improvement with a brand new battery. So take all these things in to consideration when trying to compare combinations, with different motors.

Got all the pig tails on the motors, and everything is heat shrink wrapped and ready to go. I just need motor plates, and they will be here Monday AM.

Geez, Dave, where’s your sense of adventure?
I’m sure a few zip ties, some velcro and a little duct tape would hold those U7 bad boys in place enough to make a little flight or two.
