Saw this on youTube. I have empathy for this guy who is rightfully stunned. On the positive side, my worst C8 crash from altitude resulted in less damage. Joe
If you watch that video (and I have a few times), it looks like he engages the autopilot, then decides to move the sticks around. The S800 had some problems that led to what became known as "The Flip Of Death" and DJI quietly started replacing peoples' copters. The guy seems to have a working S800 in at least one more recent video, so I suspect he was bitten by that. That said, who in their right mind would engage the GPS system (or fly at all!) in a backyard ringed with tall brick/stone buildings and a very narrow view of the sky? Definitely asking for trouble, IMHO.
Testing above concrete might also be a bit suboptimal. Better to test near bushes, grass and trees! That full sized copter crash is amazing....wonder why he didn't jettison the lift cable? Andy.
Jeez, what are the S800s made of... glass?? That thing shattered in a million pieces at such a low altitude.
Plastic definitely does not have the same resilient strength of the carbon. Our CS8 smashed into a crushed stone driveway from 25m up and the only thing that broke was 1 landing gear!
This was fully refunded by DJI waranty. And it had a GPS error that they adminted. They tested the failed unit and replaced it with new on. Thanky to video proof. It was the first flight test.
