So my x8 went down this afternoon and I think it is the same thing that happened to Josh and a few other people who had their copters crash. It starts an uncontrolled yaw then slowly gets worse then it started doing the death wobble dance just like Josh's did in the video he posted. I remember everyone blamed a2 when these crashes happened and some blamed Kde until someone had the same crash happen with a wkm and tiger motors. Mine was with a wkm and Kde motors. Thoughts?
That is the one thing i know didn't happen because I have had it happen in the past when using plastic clamps but I'm using metal now.
Looks like 4 props and one landing gear leg. Dented my video transmitter but it still works. I am weary of my wkm now though for sure.
Not too bad, considering. But I can tell you from experience be very deliberate (slow) in getting her back in the air. My confidence, both in the copter and in my skills, was shaken by a similar experience.
Bummer. Sorry to hear it Tristan. I know how you feel. I also agree with Steve regarding a careful resumption of flying. EVERYTHING needs to be tightened up - including your confidence. At least that's the way it was for me.
Thanks guys and ya it's getting completely torn down and inspected. No confidence on the machine at this point. Jose not sure if it could be the imu or not but it seems every crash that has happened like this was DJI flight controller. Some with Kde setup some with tiger. I'm using the wkm and metal v2 sensor.
Since switching to KDE Motor and Speed Controller combo maybe 35-40. IMU is the v2 metal imu and i got it for my WKM right when it came out.
HI Tristan What firmware are you running? I'm running a similar setup. I'm running the Wookong on 5.20 with the newer Metal IMU, flat 8, with KDE 4012's and KDE ESC's. I have about 30 flights on it with just 10 pounds of dummy weight. No issues to speak of yet. The weather in Pittburgh has been pretty bad since Christmas so really no time to fly. I'll test the heck out of it and let you know if I find any issues. Dave
I don't think it is an issue you will find to be honest Dave. My WKM has been fairly flawless up until this point then out of the blue this happened. Hundreds of successful flights on this flight controller. I believe i was on the newest firmware 5.26? Ill double check tomorrow when i plug it into the computer.
Hi Tristan I think 5.26 has known issues and the last known good firmware is 5.20. I know Michael can expound on this much better.
We fly one on 5.16 and another on 5.20. Those are both tried and true firmwares - both according to many people that fly them frequently and we have been flying a couple Cinestars on those firmwares for well over a year. We also fly the v2 IMU with them.
I have done two test flights so far on 5.20 and am getting white flashes sometimes even when on the ground just sitting there motors off. I am thinking about loading up 5.16 and giving that a try.
