The RED that folks link to indicates events that have happened in the last 24 hours. Full info at http://n3kl.org/sun/status.html

About the Geomagnetic Field status monitor

The Geomagnetic Field status monitor downloads data periodically from the NOAA Space Environment Center FTP server. The previous 24 hours of 3 hour Planetary Kp Index data is analyzed and an appropriate level of activity for the past 24 hours is assigned as follows:
[IMG] Quiet: the Geomagnetic Field is quiet (Kp < 4)
[IMG] Active: the Geomagnetic Field has been unsettled (Kp=4)
[IMG] Storm: A Geomagnetic Storm has occurred (Kp>4)

Gary if you notice on my screen shots the time and the time I posted only a few minutes difference.
The Solar Monitor sends me alerts of any major change. The monitor is real time and not past 24hrs.
I trust my monitor more than the n3kl.org site.

Totally agree. Just that a lot of folks don't look at the total chart but may look at some of the other sites that use only the 'bullet' data. like the MK site or mikrocopter.us.
