I'm having a hard time finding the CC 50amp esc's on the CC website you guys are referring to. Do they still sell them, did something better come out? They seem to have a lot of options in the "Products for flying section".
Cool Bill! Which one specifically do you recommend for a multirotor? I'm planning on flying the U7 490kv motors on wookong. Do you think the 50A is enough?
Hi Chris, I am using the CC50a lite. I have the same motors ready for a built. I used those for the previous multi with the AXI 4120 motors and works great. Just remember to do the throttle calibration. Bill
cool, do I need a special card to program with those settings? or do I use a usb and computer? So this is the guy your using with the U7's? http://www.rctoys.com/rc-products/CC-PHEDGE-LT50.html
You need the USB link adapter to program it. http://www.castlecreations.com/products/castle_link.html And this: http://www.castlecreations.com/downloads.html Bill
Looking at ecalc it appears the 50amps might not be quite enough for my setup with the U7 490kv. (Unless I typed something in wrong) http://www.ecalc.ch/xcoptercalc.htm?ecalc&lang=en&cooling=1.75&rotornumber=8&weight=13000&calc=auw&elevation=500&airtemp=25&qnh=1013&batteries=0&battcap=8000&battri=0.0035&battv=3.7&battccont=25&battcmax=50&battweight=1&chargestate=6&s=6&p=2&esc=max_50a&motor=tiger_motor&type=46|u7-490&gear=1&propeller=apc_slowfly_sf&diameter=16&pitch=5.5&blades=2 Thinking about the 75amp flavor.
Ok cool, and is a throttle calibration needed? I'm running the Phoneix 75's. If so, what is the throttle calibration procedure? Is it the same as other esc's. Full throttle, plug in esc on the throttle channel, then bring the throttle all the way down?
Yes Chris. Full throttle power esc, wait for beep and cell count throttle down within 3 sec. wait for confirmation. Bill
Hey Bill, I tried the calibration procedure like you stated. When I power up the esc it makes 2 noises and then nothing else. I tried it again and when I lower the throttle to 0 after the noises it beeps once and then nothing. I'm wondering if the setup is different on this phoenix esc? Maybe it has an automatic end point throttle or something ?
No, those setups are for helis. For the WKM you have to check on the assistant to see how far your throttle goes. If you do it this way you might not be able to start the motors. As long as you get the beeps on full and 0 throttle is good that means the ESC is calibrated to your Tx. Now, having said that if you change Tx you have to recalibrate the esc's. So, make sure this is the Tx and Rx you are going to use. The esc reads the end points of your transmitter. Bill
I used the Fixed Endpoints settings in the CC settings. That way they are all the same and there's no need to do calibration. It has worked for me just fine. Using with a Futaba 8FG.
I talked to CC today, after being passed around, I was directed out of the office to an CC employee who has multirotor experience. He said that you do the method in the video above. It sets the endpoints in the TX and then your done. As long as all the esc's are programed the same then you are good to go. I'm impressed with CC, great customer service, the CC utility software is awesome as well. Going to take my first flight tomorrow with my U7 setup. The motors sound like jet engines when I started them up today
