I made this modification to the Zacuto grip relocator using a hyper thin cable to replace the stiff stock cable. Also added length so it does not bind up or prevent rotation.
I just un-soldered the old cable and replaced it with a Hyperthin HDMI cable. You need 6 wires to make it happen.
Yes. But be aware that the joystick will not work with the hyper thin cable. Every other function will. If you ship me yours it will be $100 via paypal + your unit in exchange.
yes because the cable is so thin there is not enough conductivity for the joystick operation. Everything else works great.
Mike: I'm not sure this would defeat the purpose of the Hyperthin cable (in terms of making the result too inflexible), but if the resistance of a single cable with six wires is too high for the joystick, is it feasible you could run *two* Hyperthin cables in parallel -- connecting up each of the corresponding wires in each cable. Then the total resistance would be half the resistance of one cable. Just a thought. Andy.
