I ordered a GPS Maxtenna (link below) for my M5. But, it won't fit the antenna mount. Am I missing something obvious, or is this antenna not intended for use with the M5 (the product page doesn't say). I could cut off the existing antenna mount to fit the Maxtenna, but hate to do something destructive without being certain it's a good idea. Anyone use this antenna with an M5? http://store.freeflysystems.com/collections/movi-accessory/products/gps-maxtenna
Good to know. I almost ordered one yesterday. Curious to hear what is said. Side note, why are you ordering one? Are you having issues with not getting enough sats? I had 6 the other day but the FF app said I still didn't have a valid lock?
No issues -- have been using it hand-held for a while now and am getting ready to get it into the air.
I'd suggest opening up a support ticket by emailing to support@freeflysystems.com -- seems odd that it would not fit, doesn't it? Andy.
Thanks for that. That's what I was thinking of doing, but wanted to be sure I wasn't just missing some obvious alternative. I guess this antenna is not intended for the M5. Have you noticed better GPS reception with it on the M5?
I flew around 30 flights with the new Maxtenna on the M5/Sony A7s this weekend and had solid level horizons. Best, Jeff
We tested both antennas in an urban environment and didn't see any improvement over the standard antenna.
