Ok guys, I have two more questions: The first is, why does the Roll Axis of the Movi collide with Pan Motor when the Left hand is rotated up 90 degrees and the Right hand misses by about 1/2 inch when it's rotated 90 degrees? Is this normal? The second question is, how do you do briefcase mode?
Michael: Short answers: 1. Yes. 2. I don't think you can. Long answers: 1. The roll axis pivot point is off to one side to balance for the weight of the tilt motor -- and that causes the asymmetry you see in the image you posted -- the camera cage is displaced to the left of the image. 2. The MōVI does not have a "brief case mode" as far as I am aware. I suspect you may be confusing it with a competitive gimbal. Andy.
Yes it is normal. Not sure what situation would require the handles to be in the 90 degree position. Briefcase mode seems to be something from the Ronin folks. Not sure now that would be different than using the top handle to get down low. Or if you want a lot of flexibility get the Movi Ring.
BTW, I bought the Ronin first. While being rock solid with no vertical walking movement I could not carry it for more than a minute. Way too heavy for me. The MoVi M5 is light enough for me to use effectively and get good results.
