I'm trying to figure out a way to mount a Atomos Ninja Star on my M5, does anyone have any mounting ideas or mounting pictures? The M5 will be attached to an ALTA only, so I'm looking for a solution that will mount directly to the M5 frame. Thanks!
Gary: The Ninja Star comes with a small interplate that offers 1/4" and 3/8" mounting points along one edge of the Star. The rear surface does not offer any mounting possibilities as that's where the battery goes. Perhaps the best bet would be a boom clamp on the M5 that could offer a 1/4" x 20 mounting point? I would also use some kind of a Velcro safety strap, perhaps, just in case the 1/4" x 20 vibrated loose. Andy
Thanks Andy, I'll see if I can find some hardware to mount it like that and post some pictures when it's mounted.
Kyle: Perhaps use one of these http://store.freeflysystems.com/collections/movi-accessory/products/accessory-mount to provide the 1/4" x 20 attachment point and put the Ninja Star on the transverse handle-bar where you can also keep an eye on battery life, CF card capacity, etc? Andy.
Ah! That may just do the trick! I'll have to try that out, considering I have two of those that aren't in use at the moment
I also have put the ninja star on an M5 with double sided tape (the strong stuff) on the top side of horizontal crossbar. You have to use the standard battery it comes with and not a larger extended battery but that is no problem as the standard battery lasts a long enough time and can be switched between flights if you are using it all day.
We use cheese plates a lot in our setups - would that work? Attach a Movi rail to one side of the plate, camera and Atomos recorder to the flip side so they sit side-by-side on the plate. We do that a lot when flying specialized cameras beside a mini PC that controls the camera. Works like a charm.
Hi, I own an M5 , and im considering the ninja star to attach the M5 to a steady cam. Does anybody have photos or video of how to go about doing that. Thanx a lot !
