Address fixed. Welcome to the forum Bart. For those that are new multi-copter Bart's site, www.multirotorforums.com, has a great deal of information you would find valuable. Especially if you are flying WKM or HoverFly.
I placed my order today for the bearings and Barts tool. Seeing I live in Tokyo I wont get them until late next week or something I guess. I will post my findings once I receive everything and start playing!! Thanks Andy and Bart for posting!
Thanks everyone. For the orders placed in the last few days, they'll ship on Tuesday. I was away for a few days so I'm catching up with emails this morning.
I just got Barts "parts" and did the bearing swap. Very easy, especially after looking at the video. This should save some money in the future.
Thanks for the post Bart. I was just beginning to question if you received my paypal. Ill resend to the correct address.
Hi Gary Question on this. The spec for the 3328 on the QC page say Shaft diameter: 6mm http://www.quadrocopter.com/QuadroPower-Motor-QC-3328_p_392.html. But we should order the tool from Bart for the 4mm shaft, correct? Also, it this the right bearing for the 3328? http://www.bocabearings.com/bearing-inventory/Radial-Bearings/21490/xx-BMK080COS Colin
Hi Colin If the outside diameter of the bearings are the same (11mm) then the tool will work although you'll have to be more careful as the ID of the new bearings will be larger than the 4mm diameter of the bolt the tool rides on. I saw that your order came through. Thanks for referring to it as a website! It's a work in progress if nothing else! Bart
Got the tool. Thank for the prompt service. The tool is great and makes easy work for this job. The stock motors have no washers. However, with these bearings it did require one. I used the block to get the washer and clip to seat. Even so, after installation there is some slight vertical play vs. the stock motor. datonginc would you be kind enough to change your user name to your real first name and last name, please? The reasons for this (and how to do it) are explained here: http://forum.freeflysystems.com/index.php?threads/real-names.497/.
Always check your motor bell for runout before rushing in to replace the bearings..... New bearings won't solve the runout issue. There are other brushless motor bearing kits available but for other motors with different bearing sizes. One of the newer concepts for lower KV motors including the pancake style is to use larger bearings. Apparently larger bearings are better for these conditions. Here is a bearing replacement kit I developed for the 686Z and 686ZZ bearings common to many RC vehicles including the newer pancake style motors.
Bart, What plier do you recommend to take the small clips on and off? I have your tool and it works great, I'm using it on a 2814 aerial media pros motor
I don’t think Bart frequents this forum. You might be better off emailing him directly at barchiola@gmail.com.
