Strange i know - but we need to fly a fair bit with our Ring - has anyone every tried to safely take it apart and re assemble it? Thanks for putting up with this question.
Hi Art, the two parts of the ring are glued gogether. It might be possible to use a heatgun and loosen it, but i would not recommend it. Best, Wolf

Art - I've traveled with the Ring as a carry-on domestically in the US a few times. It's a pain, but it will fit in most overhead compartments, and sometimes under the seat (sticking out a little bit)
