    Hey guys,

Recently began discussions with a production company over flying their F5 for a feature film.

We've flown F5s and F55s several times on smaller jobs, but we've never been asked to do so with the Raw Recorder unit attached. I'm curious if any of you have managed this feat in the past.

My gut reaction is that the recorder's too long (an additional 6" at 2.2lbs) to balance properly with adequate clearance, but open to suggestions. They also want to fly Master Primes on it, but one issue at a time.

    Thanks!

    Hey Ryan,

It is possibile. We put counter weights in the back.

We used an M10 with extended arms. and recently with the M15, we had the raw recorder and anamorphics in the movi as well.

One thing you have to do is get mesh cables to get external power because batteries can't be put on to the movi

That's really cool. We already run power off the camera and up to a battery rig on the top handle. I just assumed that there wasn't a good way to counter the front weight with such a long camera body.

Is there any chance you have a photo of your setup? Or a link to the counterweights you use? Not going to be able to make use of them on the original feature project, but would very much like to try to fly that kind of setup in the near future.

Note* this is the setup on a m15, however we did the same thing with the extended arms on an M10

if you take a close look there is a silver rod to the left of the body underneath, that is attached to the cage

The counterweights were 15mm and fit into the rods perfectly

Battery was connected over the shoulder and monitor was connected via secondary lemo (movi battery)
