Hi gang, Being a Mac head I know nothing about the Android eco system. Seems pretty simple though with Google Nexus or Samsung Galaxy tablets a good choice? Any difference between the two? Looking for any recommendations on a dedeicated Android tablet for our Movi set-up - basically want a unti dedicated to the MOvi so key priorities would be - USB port (charged by USB would be good) - reliable, simple - only needs wireless (no 3G/4G) and good bluetooth - responsive - assume the FF Movi App isn't processor intensive - 7" about in size - a sturdy cover option - good value (i.e. cheaper as no bells and whistles required) - spend less than $200?? Any quick suggestions be appreicated cheers wes
Wes I bought a Google Nexus 7 which is about $200 or less depending on memory. Smaller memory would be fine if it is dedicated, like 16gb. Cases are another thing. The latest NextGen 7's don't seem to have many options. Certainly nothing as elegant as the magnetic edged cover for an iPad. I found something made out of some type of plastic/rubber on Amazon for $15. Wouldn't give it as a gift to anyone but it keeps the Nexus at least somewhat protected. I did spring for a Zagg Invisible shield front screen protector. I've got them on all my Apple devices. Work well to keep the screen clean and they will do a replacement for about $10 any time you think it has gotten worn out.
What is the minimum version of Android (i.e. 3.0, 4.0, etc.) that must be running on the device? Are there any versions that seem to run smoother than others?
