Hi, I need some help/ideas to figure why the Pan keeps going of center in a very slow rate. Some info/tests Firmware is 1.02 Reset to factory setting's Changed setting's Pan>Roll>Pan Only Pan active. Rest not connected Disconnect Spektrum satt. Replacing the radian or servo is my next step, but maybe someone already figured whats wrong! Passw; radianpan
For it all to work properly you have to have the spektrum attached, properly bound and the transmitter on. Check channel assignments as well, of course. good luck! Joe
Thnx for the tip. I have full control over the Pan. but on the diagnostics screen the servo output is constant on 8/9%
mmm ... as it turns, is the 'current' and 'demand' staying the same while the slew% remains at zero ?. It seems like the pan axis has some strange constant rate offset which makes the Radian think it is actually slowly turning. Are you powering it up on the ground or suspended ?. If it is suspended, it can fool the initialisation if the is slowly turning on its own during the initialisation. Make sure it is still while the green light is flashing quickly at the start. If you power it on the ground then lift it up, does it still spin slowly ?. The servo 8% is just the null position the Radian worked out. It changes from one module to another depending on things like how close the resistors are in value in the dummy pot.
In addition to JohnC's comment, I note that the pan gain is at 80% -- for the 3-axis gimbal on one of my C8's this causes oscillation. I'm not sure it's the cause of the problem, but just something I noticed. I'm down to 50% gain on pan. Andy.
We've got you covered, Joe. FF's world-wide -- JohnC's on GMT, Tabb and I are on Pacific Standard Time (just switched the day before yesterday). (And for other folks, Joe's on Eastern Standard Time). Andy.
Hi John, Thnx for the respond. Yes while it turns; current and demand stays the same. When stick input is given the servo output is corresponding equally. I'm powering it suspended, but on ground startup/initialization and holding the mount in my hands the offset movement stays the same. I understand how the numbers/values are shown/working in the servo output. Ok so only thing to do is change servo or radian! Tested 50% but same issue
TFCM, can you confirm one [Edit: sorry...several things!] thing: When you power the pan Radian sensor up, is it (a) completely stationary (hand-held will not work), and (b) in the correct orientation as though it were mounted on the gimbal in the appropriate place? Also, as you say the Spektrum is disconnected and the pan Sensor is the only one connected, how are you providing power, please? Thanks Andy.
yes completely stationary on power-up. tests are done done with 2 different batteries > lipo with ubec or 4cell nimh I don't know if it could be an issue because i removed the satt. but yesterday i upgraded my firmware for the dx8. I only noticed the pan problem today and already have the pan radian a week.
Did you reprogram the orientation for the tilt Radian for the Pan axis ?. Are you sure you have it mounted for pan in the correct orientation ?. I would reset the module to the factory defaults, configure it to be pan again, set the gain to whatever it was and see if you have the same issue.
Yes reprogrammed the tilt radian to pan config > same small movements. See pic's Only 1 radian without satt
After rereading my posts i see that i forgot to mention that the pan drift does not start immediately on power up. But after 25-45sec
In the screen shot image, I noticed that the Radian software is not connected to the Radian sensor. Could you try the experiment again, connect the Radian software to the sensor, do a Read, and then post the screen shot you get, please? Thanks Andy
Second image from Tilt radian with pan config moved to pan. Connected with only a 4cell nimh, different satt-dsmx
