Hello guys am looking to buy a third party Movi rod mount adapter for my moviM5 but the freefly option cost a lot. Anyone know of a cheaper option? Need it to attach a follow focus.

Hi Akpe, the Movi rod mount adapter is kind of specific to the baseplate it's designed for. Depending on your setup and which camera you use, you could possibly get a hot-shoe to 15mm Iris Rod adapter, but they're not much less expensive.

One thing I've found is that aluminum rods work much better than the carbon fiber ones they send with it. The motors tend to slip a lot on the carbon fiber, especially when auto-calibrating. I have 3" and 4" aluminum rods in my kit.

I also had one of the bolts strip out on the Rod Mount adapter, so I've bought two of them over the last year. They're worth it to me, though.

    Best,
    -Graham

Decided to go with the freefly option despite the price
