I got a stupid question about the telemetry on the DX7's. Where is the telemetry screen and how do you get to it? I want to monitor signal strength and see nothing in the manual as to how to get to the telemetry screen. It mentions the screen but not how to get to it. Does it need a separate telemetry module? I am completely dumbfounded.
Dave there is a section in the manual on Telemetry. On the Spektrum Website there is a telemetry compatibility chart on the DX7s page. I don't see anything about monitoring signal strength. Basically you need a telemetry module and then one or more of their sensors.
HI Gary Thanks. I did see that but it was unclear about the need for for the extra module. My main question is that with the telemetry module does it monitor the TX to RX signal quality or the RX back to TX telemetry RF signal quality. I can't seem to find an answer to that.
Dave: I did some Google searches like: Spektrum telemetry data displayed I found this: http://www.lemon-rx.com/shop/documents/InstructionsTelemetry A4.pdf It seems to suggest that you can get some RF signal strength data (look at the second image in the document on page 3 -- the circle around the "cell phone bars." There is also this: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1579976 There's also a video at -- look at 09:05 in the video and the picture in picture seems to suggest that the "cell phone bars" is being updated to show signal strength.... The most explicit statement I found (Google search: Spektrum DX7s telemetry signal strength) is: The DX7s and is telemetry ready, the transmitter’s screen displaying real-time telemetry including receiver battery voltage, signal quality and flight log data, which includes antenna fades, frame losses, holds (failsafes). External sensors (sold separately) allow rpm, external voltage and temperature to be displayed on screen in real time and alarms can be programmed to warn of low battery, over temperature, exceeded rpm and diminished RF signal strength. See http://www.horizonhobby.co.uk/aeroonline/e6spektrum/e6-dx7s/e6-dx7s.html -- this confirms what was said (but not very well shown) in the video on YouTube. Andy.
I actually bought the Spektrum TM1000 for that purpose (although not for the MōVI). I don't think there's any telemetry sent back from the standard Spektrum receivers. I'd be happy to sell you my TM1000 if you're interested.
Thanks all. Specktrums documentation is very misleading. Like Steve says you can't get any telemetry even RF strength or receiver voltage back to the radio without the telemetry module. I was able to test the fail safe with the Wookong with the DX7 today. It auto lands perfect, it even pauses for a brief section on its way down.
