    Hi everyone,

I'm just curious if anyone has any suggested settings for flying a 5D3 + 24 1.4 with the M5. I can't get much more than Pan Stiffness 20, Roll Stiffness 20, Roll Stiffness 10 without it oscillating - yet on the video they seem to have settings like the Pan Stiffness set at 120 or 130. That was with a 70D + 16-35. Any recommended settings for my shooting setup?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Bruce,

Start with these suggested numbers in this spreadsheet. Also, if you haven't already, make sure all your axis-points are well balanced.

Tabb and the Freefly team put the Google doc together - hope it helps!

I would reiterate what Drew said. You should definitely get much higher values then that. I would suspect balance of at least one, if not more then one of the axis's is not set right. This can really affect things.

On the M5, with the 5D3, 24mm 2.8 IS (with lens hood), I'm seeing:
    Pan stiffness: 99.
    Roll stiffness: 49.
    Tilt stiffness: 15.

Obviously your lens is different, but that's what I've found works well. As Drew and Nicolas point out: Balance is critical -- along with making sure that the camera is mounted rigidly to the cage, top and bottom -- with no discernable play.
