Hi Guys, we have been getting a lot of questions about setting the roll potentiometer on the CineStar gimbal. It comes set properly from the factory but often users like to fine tune / change the setup a bit. Often times when disassembling the roll pot people do not notice that the pot lead that plugs into the FreeFly servo is reversed. So if you roll is moving backward after you have worked on the mount please try swapping the servo connector from the roll pot such that the polarity is reversed. Do not worry about hurting anything by flipping this connector from the pot to the servo. -Tabb
What I've been struggling with is getting the roll axis to be properly centered....I got the RTF from QC and it was several degrees wrong, so I was changing the servo number in MK Tool, but even then it wouldn't return to level. So now I've allow ground control to fine tune the adjustment rather than having shots dutched over. Andy.
You could mechanically center the servo by turning it's potentiometer or if it's just a little adjust, you can do it by the "sub-trim" adjust in the radio.
Thanks for those suggestions. Part of the problem was that I had reduced the sensitivity of the "rudder" stick to minimize the sensitivity of the roll axis -- so much so that I got the unwanted side effect that I was not getting a full left or full right servo value (or even close), thus the left stick full left was not calibrating the gyros on the MK FC board used to control the camera gimbal. (And nor could I recall the ACC with the left-stick full right for the same reasons.) The 88f/Walter firmware does not need the left stick fully forward for calibration as that is the default. Anyway, it's now much better. Thanks again for the help. Thanks Andy.
Hello Andy, End points and dual rates will change the full throw settings, but expo will retain the full left/right - it just softens the throw around the middle. Cheers, Jeff
