Power connectors - which do you use (XT60,EC5, Dean, or other)

    Hi all -

I keep reading mixed opinions on what power connectors to use on the copter and gimbal. As I understand it, the Dean connectors heat up too much and problems appear when running 8000mA batteries. I have seen other people use XT60s or EC5s for the copter but keep Deans for the gimbal. As of right now I am using Deans everywhere, but I'm thinking of switching to be on the safe side.

Any thoughts on what I should go with?
    Thank you.

PLEASE SWITCH TO EC5s ASAP!!! I was using deans on my copter (main battery to PDB) and had one fail which resulted in a 15ft drop to the ground. Broke a few parts. Deans are ok for anything low-current wise but for your main power for the copter use something different.

I use EC5's for the big connections
    EC3 for medium
    EC2 for small
    JST for some smaller ones

Deans are a pain to deal with IMO

I concur. I cut over to the EC5s for heavy current....and I'm about to ditch the Dean's for the light current and go EC2 and JST for really light current.

Awesome info guys. Thank you. If I get to find parts locally, I'll switch them out this weekend.

I just ordered a bunch too! I think I had the same problem as Josh on my first heli the dean melted from the heat from the load i was carrying!! scary to see a 6kg heli drop from 60 meters to concrete lets say the result was not pretty!!

Besides the issue of Deans not handling the extra current and heat ... I think they're possibly the most frustrating connections to pull apart!! The EC family of connectors are the way to go.

Picked some up this morning at the local hobby store (had to search, not many sell EC5s) and will replace them over the weekend. Thanks again guys!
