If anyone needs a transport solution, the Pelican 1630 case works pretty good. We've flown with the Movi in it a couple times. The good thing is you don't have to break down the Movi at all. And it fits all the extras. The case we used is: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ...630_Case_with_Foam.html?BI=5188&KW=&KBID=5651 but we actually got ours on eBay for $160 shipped (brand new).
It's the AA battery holder but there are no batteries in it. We just run it off one of the FreeFly batteries. The AA battery holder is there just in case of emergency.
Thanks Dana! I might as well ask, but can only assume, does this usually stay under the 50lb check-in limit?
Also have the 1630 setup to hold a totally rigged and ready Epic with any lens, FF, Paralinx etc. Great for fast setups. It's got to have every heavy item pulled from it to hit 50 lbs. No camera or Antons etc.
Thanks for the videos Paul and Dana. Very helpful. Really wanted the laser cut black oxide that has been floating around - but 1630 might be a good choice for a budget friendly solution.
We've got both the 1630 and the Cinema Oxide (which is very nice as well) but I use the 1630 mostly since it holds a totally rigged Epic and most of the accessories in one case. From when I'm opening the case to shooting is about 1 minute. I'm using it on a documentary right now for pickups, and I can go to a location, shoot the needed shot, then packup and leave in just 7 or 8 minutes. It's faster than using a tripod.
Maybe if it was just the case and the Movi with no other parts/accessories. But it is under 70 which is what we pack all our cases for travel which will get you on any airline in the world.
What steered me away from the cinema oxide was you can't customize and have to break everything down.
