Anyone still using the MK for their gimbal control? Mind sharing FW version and some great settings that you've dialed in?

I think you might be interested in this thread.
It describes the so-called "Walter" version of the firmware that has several useful features for camera control.
There is a link at the end of the first posting for downloading the hex file.

    Hope this helps
    Andy.

Maybe Tabb will read this and offer me a special price. :) I would much rather be using the FF but just can't get there yet. I have to work with what I got for a bit longer. In the mean time, tips and settings for the MK are always welcome. Unless all the tips I get are "Get the FF."

Until the FF Radians were released, using the MK FC board worked fine for me. The real downside of it was that it lacked panning "lock" so if you yaw the aircraft, you pan the camera. But in terms of 2-Axis gimbals the FC worked exactly as advertised. I still have an MK FC with the Walter firmware on it as a result of the upgrade to FF Radians and in a pinch, as a backup strategy I'd revert to that if I inadvertently trashed the Radians, say. (Expensive thought....)

One major difference between the MK FC gimbal controller and the Radians is that the nick/tilt control on the MK FC is positional -- the tilt angle corresponds to the stick angle. On the Radians, the stick angle is a tilt rate controller so that you control up/down with it rather than "go to this position." You quickly get used to either and the camera ops don't bitch about either -- probably because there are other topics about which they can bitch like my flying skills (or lack thereof). :)

    Andy.

But using ¨Walter¨ is only when using a second FC on the gimbal?!

    Correct. I have a 2.1 on the Gimbal and a 2.1 on the CS8.

    Hi Janne:
Yes. It's specifically designed for a dedicated gimbal controller as Duane says.

    Andy.

Ha ha. Sorry, I didn't see that as a question, I read it as a warning.

Oh. I was taking the "?!" at the end of Janne's post as a question! :)
