    It's an ex-adapter. :(

    Don't see too many of them fail, though. Weird.

    I suppose the only thing I would check now is some other USB device that is powered from the USB port -- just to eliminate the possibility that the USB +5v hasn't gone away.

    Hm, I wonder if I accidentally plugged it into one of the charging ports on my monitor. The Asus's I use have a dedicated charging port... I bet that could screw the MK USB up due to a higher amp output.

    It's voltage that will burn something up -- not the ability to supply current. USB standards define the provision of 5 volts.

    True, All I can think is possible static discharge then.
