Primary reason I don't do it in the TX is there is no charge indicator. Since I have the spares just as easy to swap out and then I can see the condition on the Hyperion when I charge. I just trust the Hyperion more.

Without a balance plug on the Graupner LiPo, how does the Hyperion know how to stop the charging cycle?

Don't know, it just works and reads out fine. Since it is a 1S I don't think there is anything to balance.

I believe the Hyperion does it based on the voltage of the battery. The balancing lead is only used to balance the voltage across multiple cells as Gary says, so there is no balancing act. :)
