Unit was working fine on a shoot yesterday - just received it on Thursday last week. Today, will not work - when the unit is powered-up in its neutral position (balanced, all facing correct way), the unit will pan about 100 degrees, tilt the camera up about 10 degrees, and roll about 10 degrees. And then it stays there. Any advice? Configurator reports Compass Error which is new today.
Sounds like an email to support@freeflysystems.com might be in order, Derek. What do the three LEDs on top do as the MōVI initializes? Andy.
Email sent. You know, I'd like to report on the LED startup sequence, but the Lipos won't charge - see separate post - so I can't even power up the M5 now. I have zero luck.
Ok, progress - LiPos fully charged and back to operational - very cool. Power up the Movi - switch it on, 1) All three green lights come on momentarily 2) All lights go off for a bit 3) First light flashes 4) All three green lights come on solid Configurator showing all greens - status running, compass good, drive good, and IMU good. Info OK. Batt 16.5V No sats - inside. Unit is totally un-powered. I apply pan, roll and tilt stiffness - un-powered. Just sits there. Latest firmware - included screenshot of configurator. Thoughts?
Hello Derek, When the gimbal is not responding do you still have solid green light(s) on the IMU and also tilt/roll/pan gain settings higher than 0? And as recap are you using a second transmitter for remote operator? Is it possible to make a video of the freefly configurator showing the Chart - Attitude, General, Motors, and Radio screens while moving each axis on the MoVI. Cheers, Jeff
Also along the lines of Jeff's note if you have the remote transmitter turned on try turning it off. In the GUI click on the chart selection and then motors to see if you see any activity from the motors. Video of what is happening always helps.
Here are the screenshots of each of the chart sets - there is zero movement in the motors. They are basically off - zero resistance. Full green lights on the unit - all three green. No RC transmitter / receiver at this point.
Seems this forum doesn't like QuickTime movies - can't upload those. Screen shots it is... pan / tilt / roll... reset to basic
In the end Quadrocopter asked me to RMA the unit - bizarre behaviour. Hopefully the turn-around with Quadrocopter is quick as Saturday's shoot was so successful I've booked more gigs in early June with this unit! Thanks to everyone who helped out - I truly appreciate it!
