Do you think a M15 could handle a Red weapon and Zeiss Compact zoom 15-30
the weight would be about 10 pounds with the brain, media, and lens.

my concern would that it would be front heavy and not enough room to move back

anyone tried a epic and compact zoom?

If you used the remaining 5 pounds in the budget for pure counterweight you might squeak it in. Will you be using remote video/follow focus?

Yes it works, we've put the Optimo on as well. BUT will only work in handheld, it fails on the drone (too much wind resistance / inertia). Hope one day they will make a pan motor upgrade since on a drone the M15 realistically can only do 13lbs total weight (including gimbal) at med to high speeds.

Yeah it is, normally we can get away w/ M15, Arri /Red,Ultra Prime, Tomohawk, Batteries but today we where operation at 55km/hr. And it broke free once again (happens w/ all our Movi's), but footage was butter smooth till it went limp. We where really pushing it though, 2000m runs from a truck @ 45-60km/hr. We have tried everyother lens you can think of but an Ultra Prime 2.2lbs is the max that works 95% of the time w/ Alexa M or Weapon (Super Speeds are the best).

Heavier lenses do work but not for our clients shot lists. We tried a Sumilux which was a disaster, couldn't hold pan at hover for more than 1-2min before it broke loose.

We have had to inform all our clients if they want a reliable system in all operating condition... a 2lbs lens is max!!! I wish I could say 4lbs :)

What type of multirotor goes that fast with that size payload?

Jason a fast truck or helicopter "runs in a truck @ 45-60km/hr."

    Our drone pictured here: https://www.instagram.com/reveredcinema/

45lbs all up, 44,000 Mah, 65km or 18m/sec max speed

We where operating from a truck to keep up with action since the entire run was like 2km's.

*** On a side note for zooms - we use our Red 17-50mm zoom and works ok on M15 as long as its not positioned at 90 degrees to the flight path + don't go too fast, under 10m/sec. The Century 17-35 is just over 2'lbs and short, its the lightest PL zoom we know of.

    Thanks for sharing your experience!!

    Wedge & Hedens.
Total weight is 15lbs including gimbal (10lbs payload).
Works great as long as your not traveling fast, otherwise the pan motor breaks loose.

As stated in other threads 13lbs (8lbs payload) is the max weight the M15 can fly reliably in fast conditions (due to inclination of the UAS, wind resistance, inertia/swing weight of the camera/lens).

Others will probably argue this but we have multiple teams, operate almost daily & most of our clients require us to travel 30km+ (this pan motor issue has plagued all our M15's) many emails w/ support & too many hours testing / adjusting settings w/ no improved results.

For handheld the M15 can handle an Optimo, in airborne an Ultra prime is about it - unless the DP/director is cool with the gimbal going limb during the take :(

So I hope supports reading this threads + others who have stated the same issue & come up w/ a solution (pan motor upgrade), so we don't have to abandon ship & get an Aerigon or U1G gimbal so we can fly Optimos, Lieca, Cooks & anamorphics (all would be under 15lbs).

This 15lbs capacity is misleading, they know it's going on a drone - they should clearly state the maximum weight it can handle at the max it would be used.... run or use on ATV in handheld + put on drone & go max speed too see its limits - then state the real world limits or disclaimer :)

My weird analogy is like stating a CAR can hold "X" amount of passengers but was tested on a dyno "static", once you actually drive, you have to throw out 25% of your passengers so the engine doesn't turns off while at speed.
