    What medium are they writing to? Real 4K is would require more bandwidth than most memory card formats (especially SD) could handle. If it’s a highly-compressed format (like AVCHD), it’s not really that interesting for production-level stuff. Do they offer some kind of external recorder?

    Hmm, interesting. According to one review I just found, "4K video is hot at a whopping 50Mbit/s” (I think he meant “shot”).
    My Panasonic GH3 shoots 1080P at 24fps at 50Mbit/sec. Remember, 4K is the equivalent of four 1080P frames per frame. So even at 50Mbit/sec, that’s pretty severe compression. Smells like a consumer-ish play, nothing more.
