I am taking an overseas trip to a very sunny place. I decided not to take any lenses with me, but I will definitely need filters and counterweight. I am using a 37mm clip with 52mm adapter over the iPhone XS Max wide lens. Alternatively I will use Pitaka case with a Moondog Labs Mount and 52mm Filter Mount with 12.5mm thread, if they get here in time. I have many of 52mm filters for the Moment Tele and Anamorphic lenses (52mm causes vignetting with the Moment Wide).

I am planning to switch to the Moondog Labs Anamorphic Lens anyway.

I would like to keep the iPhone in balanced position without the filters and counterweight in, then add the filter with support and counterbalance it with something lighter than the stock MCR counterweight system, which is an overkill for just ND filter. I would leave the phone position in it's place. Doing all this mainly for weight reason.

Don't want to spend $100 for the Polarpro Iris filters. I believe they will be obsolete in less than a year, and full filter complement is $200. More than pretty fancy lens.

Did anyone tried something like this? Any ideas or suggestions are welcome.

I just realized that if I add on a mic, I cannot beat the compactness of the MCR. Plus the Filmic Pro integration is useful.

Adding the middle counterweight cylinder to the roll arm “elbow” with the M3 screw helps the most. Little counterweight attachment to the center of the lower clamp jaw (just below the pivot point) helps with the tilt. Finally the small counterweight on the pan arm to control the pan balance. Much less heavy counterweight because I leave the phone very close to the original balanced position. Most importantly, it works.
