Thoughts or experience with this? Looking to setup my 5D copter with some new motors to replace my 3515's. Thinking 4014 kde and 16'' props with the FF 40 amp speed controllers. Think the 40 amp free fly esc will be enough? I am using it on a shoot in Arizona next month and want to be sure everything is ok in the heat.

What's your AUW target? X8 or flat?

X8, AUW I am thinking 23lbs but I still need to weight the M5 with 5D and my current copter.

I'm using KDE 35A ESCs on my big quad, but they're hardly breaking a sweat with that copter. I'm using the MK BL 3.0 board and am very happy with it. I'm running KDE 4012 motors with 16" props at 23lbs AUW. The 4014s are better with 17" or 18" props, but that's more than you need at 23 lbs.

My current X8 is only getting like 8 minute flight times so I want to build this one to get longer flight times. This copter will strictly be flying Movi M5 and 5D but I want more flight time than I am getting now.

I get 12-15 minutes easily with my M5 and 5D and 2x10A batteries.
Here's the last flight I made last week carrying my 5D doing a mapping mission.
11 minutes consuming 12.3A of the (theoretical) 20A of capacity.
Ambient temps were 80°F+ and as you can see, the BLs were barely warm.

KDE 4014-380KV is a great motor. You need to know these:

    * You need to run them with 18" props to get a good thrust from them.
    * You need to be sure that the shaft is upgraded by KDE
    * With 18" prop it draws max. 27 amps, so you are good with Freefly ESCs.
    * With 16" props your hover throttle will be around %75 with that payload, so I wouldn't use that.

    M5 + 5D MK III + 24mm EF lens weight around 3600 grams.

If you want to use smaller props, you should consider KDE 4215Xf-465KV motors; they are not that efficient but provides good thrust with 16" props. http://kdedirect.com/KDE4215XF465.html

I am contemplating between the KDE 4014 and 18'' props or the used U7 420 that Jason Toth is selling and the tiger 80amp esc
