Would be great to hear the general consensus, experiences, theories on this ... Using a stock CS8 running 4S as a basepoint : Is two better than one? Would it be better to use 2x 5,000mah or 1x 10,000mah? What would the pros and cons be? safety, flight time, lifespan, charging, load etc. etc. and one or two other things ... Discharge Rate - what should be the minimum constant rate to look for when buying? 30 45 50 ? more? Burst Rate - what should be the minimum burst rate to look for when buying? 40 55 60 ? more? Max Charge Rate - Is it best practice to always stick with 1C no matter what the pack rates itself at?
If you use two batteries, you draw far less current from them which is kinder to the battery. However, with two batteries, you double your chance of failure. If you believe that a LiPo battery, when it fails, is likely to drag its voltage down to zero (or very low voltage), it will drag the good battery down. I did some measurements on single/dual LiPo setups using a dummy load that pulls 60 Amps out of 4S batteries. See the second document shown here: http://rathergoodguides.com/documentguides.html Andy.
