I second the Kopterworx. It has been fantastic for me and doesn't required additional power, just what it draws from the cameras HDMI.

I did break the FF Hdmi Converter too, and bought this from kopterworx. I do also recommend you this one, works great. But on my camera (sony a7r) the power supply didn't work stable with the hdmi output. But it was easy to crimp the old power cable to this one.

As far as I know the 5D supplies the power via the HDMI, but i don't own one. The problem with my sony is that the "normal" power output is on this strange new multi-usb port, and not only via the hdmi.

No need for external power for the HDMI converter with the 5D Mark III, Chris. It takes its power from the HDMI converter. I'm not sure what the current draw is, though -- the 5D Mark III batteries don't seem to run down significantly faster that without the HDMI converter -- but I've not put a stopwatch on it.

    Andy.
