Is the Flight Control V2.1 ME Worth the upgrade? What are the real benefits? I know the blurb says 'altitude hold' is improved, can anyone say by how much? Thanks, Nick
Oh, yeah. This is great upgrade. The new altitude hold is absolutely rock solid. Well worth the upgrade. Not quite sure how to qualify the "by how much," but it's like the copter's glued in the vertical axis. Andy.
I second Andy's comment. It eliminates a great deal of left stick management and lets you focus on directional control. BEST $60 bucks installed I EVER spent. On anything. Ever.
Thanks, I'm confused, $60? I thought you needed a new Flight Control Board with the upgrade? I thought it was in the region of $460??? Nick
No, you can purchase the upgrade chip and solder it on to an existing FC board, or send your FC board in to Quadrocopter (see http://www.quadrocopter.com/ACC-Upgrade-for-FC21-Service-_p_927.html -- other dealers may also have a service where they install the upgrade). If you're reasonably skilled at soldering and have a fine tip for the soldering iron, it's really not that hard. Andy.
Oh sweet, a $60 upgrade hardly warrants a 'Worth the Upgrade' thread. Surprise is a beautiful thing sometimes Skipping along, Nick
Ironically, the trickiest thing about the upgrade is dealing with the requisite firmware updates to the FC and NC boards. As always, you should exercise care in following the instructions. Many of us (me included) are actually running what Holger called a "beta" version. I started a thread about it here. It's good reading... http://forum.freeflysystems.com/index.php?threads/new-mk-firmware-beta-0-91-as-of-14-06-2013.1674/
