Hey guys! On a wake boarding shoot in Missouri. Took it out for a test flight. Everything worked great. Show up the shore 5 min later and motors 7 and 8 would not start up. Occasionally motor 8 would but not 7. The bl board shows all green beneath. I switched out motors 7 and 8. 7 will not turn over still. Note: it does turn half a turn when the motors are initialzing. Any ideas ????! I heard there is a mode in mktools that allows you to be able to fly without all the motors running. Can someone tell me how to turn that ability on? Currently it doesn't let me throttle up. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!'
Do they run if you apply a small amount of throttle on your TX sticks? I've often had one motor be sluggish, but start up once I apply a little throttle.
Just noticed that 7 has red under the bl controller. Any ideas? Can I somehow still fly with one bad bl? Or any tips on diagnosis. I'm heading back to the hotel to hook up mk tools.
Ok, I've got 4 red flashes on the motor 7 bl ctrl. I heard from Flori at nab that you there is a way to change a setting in kopter tool so that even though you may be short a motor you can still fly. Anyone know how to do that or have any tips? Also anyone in Missouri that would sell me their bl board. I will pay handsomely
Chris I have a full MK Octo BL setup I can ship today. $500+Shipping? Has heatsinks already too. You can have it tomorrow. Josh
Hello Chris, 4x red LED flashes indicates that the shunt is broken. This is not repairable. ESC #7 must be replaced. Greetings, Adam
Thanks guys! Gary is sending me a board, should get here tomorrow. Anything I can do to fix a shunt ? Any idea what that is?
Did you get the PDB/Brushless Controls wet with spray, Chris? (This may not matter as much if you've sprayed the board with conformal acrylic spray.) Andy.
I fixed it!!!!! I freaking fixed it!!!!!!!! As pointed out to me by Gary, the mk site says 4 flashes means "MOSFET NA not always shut off. So in desperation tonight in my hotel room I decided what the heck lets resolder MOSFET A. And boom..... It works again!!!!!!!!!
Bad news. Get to the harbor again and the same thing. Motor #7 is not working. I was a solid red, now it's a solid green. Update: brought it back to inside hotel room and it starts up fine. Humidity issue ?? Any tips?
Definitely sounds like you need to spray that board, Chris -- but good thinking re hair dryer and shower cap. Andy.
Chris I had the same problem, I had to replace the BL. Only way around it for me at least. Weird thing is that it doesnt flag any errors in MK tools.
Update: it got hot out the lake so I took off the shower cap. The Heli flew perfect the entire day and didn't even go in the water once So I guess it works now....
Talked several times with Chris today. It sounds like the high humidity near the lake and morning fog worked together to introduce to much moisture causing problems. Main clue was that when he went back to the hotel the copter worked fine (dry ride in the car?). So I suggested grabbing the hair dryer from the hotel along with a shower cap and it sounds like it worked out ok.
Yeah. MOSFETs hate moisture! Chris: See the first document referenced here: http://rathergoodguides.com/documentguides.html It tells you how you can improve the water resistance of the MK boards. Andy.
You would think there would be some sort of cowling that would help prevent this from happening. Or maybe there is one but I don't know about it.
