CINEFORM NEOSCENE A professional solution for Transcoding AVCHD 50P or 60P to ProRes422 50P or 60P and edit all the files from the Sony Cameras CX730/40/60 or other AVCHD or H264 from 5D/7D/550D.... For Mac and Final Cut pro users Do not forget to download and install the software utility PERIAN for the sound of your transcoded files ... Hope this help...
Hi Marc: My earlier experiments with Cineform were disappointing: 1. Cineform strips the audio track. Not critical to copter footage, but why? 2. The resulting .MOV files created by NeoSceneMac, when played with Preview (or even when placed on an FCP Timeline), play for five or six seconds, stutter, then stop playing altogether even though the playhead keeps advancing (both Preview and FCP)! I think they have major problems with the playback codec. 3. Oh, and it takes a huge amount of time to convert the footage. I'll be interested to hear if anyone else has similar problems with a Mac (OS X 10.6.8, Cineform, and Perian). Thanks Andy.
No Problems for me it work perfectly for years... But are you sure to have correct settings export (ProRes422...) Sound work only with Perian.
One other solution to this I can suggest and recommend from personal experience: ClipWrap does a great job of making mov's out of the mts files. It's been fast and problem free for us. nick
The issue for me was going from CX760 to FCP 7. All of the MTS converters I've tried had major issues (e.g. produced clips that stuttered on playback in FCP). It's proving easy for my workflow to import the AVCHD into Adobe Premiere CX6, then Export to XDCAM 422. In case anyone else wants to do this, be sure to use the Media Browser to do the import into Premiere otherwise you'll get weird duplicated clips that also appear to take the place of some other different clips.... This is a known problem with Premiere and is apparently associated with the AVCHD "standard" directory/file format. Andy.
Works great for me. One little bit of advice. It has a little checkbox for shutting down your system after it completes. For some reason that is on by default and can be a scary few minutes if you were not expecting that functionality. Im guessing it is for folks who want to render through the night and then shut down after completion?
Oooh....thanks for the heads up. I leave my Macs on all the time -- they seem to last longer when they stay at a more or less constant temperature.... As you say, it seems like an odd default setting. Andy.
I've been pretty happy with PavTube on my Macs. It's pretty reliable, can translate directly into ProRes LT in a form that can be conformed to 24P, and handles sound and video smoothly.
what is the best and most smoother way to editing 1080x 50p when i shal editing in final cut pro x is it to make it to 1080x25 or 720x25 to get it most smooth and clear??
