hello i wounder if there is some sort off cover for the electronics i think the elektronic´s on the cinestar is very open and i want to fly when it is snowing and so on some times the weather in norway is very differens from time to time and not saft ,suddenly the rain comes when you are up there!!!!!!
Kjetil, something really simple and inexpensive is a shower cap. I've never seen anything else for a CS.
yes i have use this and it works great ,but i just wounder if there was something that looks more proff, than a shower cap
You mean you need "ShowerCap Pro XL?" I think you are going to be starting a new business next year, Kjetil! Have you sprayed the MK Electronics with conformal acrylic spray? That's a start. And it does look professional. Andy.
Sure. With Wolfgang's help, I created this Rather Good Guide™ for Spraying Mikrokopter Boards with Conformal Acrylic Spray. Let me know if you have any questions about it. Andy.
Seems that the conformal coating doesn't do that much, according to this test, but luckily there is another option which will make your electronics waterproof! http://www.helifreak.com/showpost.php?p=4485581&postcount=27 Haven't tried it myself because getting water in the motors doesn't sound too good to me. Although, with a cover and some sort of rubber seal around the prop adapter, the motors could be made "rain/snow-proof"
Good find, Tim. Thank you for posting that. As the poster says, the conformal coating doesn't make the boards entirely water proof, "only good for light drizzle, mist, fog. Not recommended for heavy rain or submersion." For heavy rain, I think I'd rather be indoors, sipping a glass of wine and looking out at some other crazy pilot flying their Cinestar in that heavy rain. I do like the idea of "Good for any wet or fully submerged operation." An octosubmarine? Seal off both ends of the booms, though. Andy.
How many of you are flying in fog or mist with just a shower cap without spraying your electronics? I'm in Washington for a bit and want to fly here. Just curious. Thanks Josh
Shower caps?!!!! LOL That is ridiculous! I can't believe there is no professional cap protection option for Cinestar frames!
There's a definite market gap there, Daniel. Interesting challenge though: water proof, light, allows heat to dissipate from the BL-Ctrl boards and the battery/batteries -- and allows the batteries to be changed. Andy.
Good summary of the challenge. Droidworx has caps for their ships but the batteries are all externally mounted, typically to the gear. Did see a photo maybe here on the forum of a CS that had the batteries mounted across the tops of the booms close to the center hub. Biggest challenge would be heat. I switched to HoverFly so that I could eliminate maxing out the the MK BL's. I would need a cover that covered from about an inch or so outside the center hub up and over the top of the batteries (assuming carrying two up). That would huge and add weight no matter what the material. What's wrong with a shower cap? Don't buy the plain ones, get something in a bright bold color with giraffes or flying pigs on it and make a statement .
Andy, Freefly quality to deliver professional solutions is what makes Cinestar platform so desirable for me. But I think is easier to swap the discharged batteries for fully charged ones. And as I'm a bit afraid of Lipos I like to charge them inside safety bags, away from expensive stuff. Hope I won't need to find a shower cap that fit when I have my Cinestar. But Girafes and flying pigs will definitely look more professional than a plain shower cap on a film set!
Hi Daniel: Yeah. I agree with you re: FF products -- that's what brought me to buy the C8's too. As to the shower caps, a Google search for: decorative shower capsreveals some possibilities. For example: http://www.solutions.com/jump.jsp?i...ODUCT&path=1,2,4,11407,11412&iProductID=16324 Andy.
I'm surprised y'all are so determined to fly in the rain and snow. Keeping your ship dry is undeniably important, but the few times I've been up in even a fine mist or fog, the lens of my camera (be it a small FPV camera or a real one) gets hopelessly wet and functionally kaput within minutes (or seconds). And windshield wipers wreak havoc on my videos. As for me, I'll stay in the lodge and drink hot cocoa and wait to hear your stories as you dry your socks by the fire.
