Hi Josh, well is getting there, alot of changes since last time, alot of tweaking and so on. I got my self a Canon 6D and here are the results on the bench only. Like I said too much to do yet. Now I am balancing the gimbal on the vertical plane to see how well the pan performs. Cheers
Hi guys - How do you balance and find the sweet spot - dont the brushless motors have to much resistance due to the magnets, so you cant balance freely ???? bison
Well people is been awhile. Been busy trying to figure out this thing. At the beggining it looked simple but things were not working the way I wanted too. So did some modifications and did some testing today panning at different angles. Enjoy.
A lot of people are hanging all that weight directly on roll motor shaft, with no support at all. I am worried that despite short shaft and ball bearings, that shaft will bend a little because of not been designed for that torque but axial load. What do you think of designs with support on roll shaft?
Brad here was Tabb's answer here on the forum http://forum.freeflysystems.com/index.php?threads/movi-m10-gimabal.1434/#post-19166
Is a brushless motor with belt reduction. More torque Gustavo more torque. And with the belt drive you wont see any jitters.
What about the weight? A servo based CS 3-axis is 1,3kg if I recall correctly. Adding 3 x 5208 motors (3x200gr=600gr) is another 600gr. Minus the servo weight (3x70gr=210gr) its going to be heavier at least 400 to 500gr. Can someone please post their converted cs3 weights? (converted mount only) Thanks, Jim.
My gimbal minus camera but with the battery is 2.35kg That's a Cinestar 3 axis with the legs. The battery is 5S
Hi Bill and Josh I think from the pictures and Josh's video that you guys chose diferent motors what can you tell us about the choices you guys made, and if you had to do it again would you choose the same motors oviously providing that nothing newer better came out after you made your choice Q, for Bill pardon my me asking, if I may what is keeping you from testing your DD gimbal in the air just curious Thanks, and thanks for pioneering this stuff
I don't have a bird big enough to lift it. The one I was working on it got sold before was even tested. So now I have to build another one. Everyone around here know what kind of work I do and they always snooping around. LOL But I will ask the guy that bought my last machine if he can do a flight test for me.
Bill Are you using a 5s Battery on the AlexMos Board? I have heard rumors that you can use up to a 6s battery but haven't tried anything other than 4s. JOsh
You got it 5S. I'm running two boards connected together. Just have to turn down the power a bit and the motors hold. I wont try 6S yet as I need another board on hand in case this one fry's. Also I am using the 5208's and 5010. Amazing power. Bill
Josh don't fully charge the battery. The board can handle up to 20.7v So charge it to that voltage. try it you'll like it. And if you do please post your results. Bill PS tha means you have to re balance your gimbal...sorry
