Ya if anybody is planning their own DJI CS X8 use the MK style mixer and not the stock DJI one. It wasn't mine but it works nicely.
Hi guys, I have a gig on thursday , as I don t have the cash to buy some xoar props at the moment I decided to rebuild the original flat MK okto XL and use the APC I have, just went fo a test outside, its blowing about 10-15mph and the choper seams an epileptic gremlin jerking up there COAX WHAS LIKE A FLOATING ROCK IN THE SAME SCENARIO! Im scared shitless now and trying to get this one somewhere near!! Its spasmic in the wind, ANY TIPS ARE VERY WELCOME!! Thanks in advance!
HAhahah!!Yeah Dejan!Thats the plan, But as you were saying, everything needs to be really alined, and the coax I build was only a test, I made it with a hacksaw and a dremel and altough it was much more stable in general it had some twiching I couldnt pull out...As soon that I have some funds Ill be building a nice coax!had to go back but it wont be for long
How much does a Xoar 15x5 prop weigh? One online retailer has it listed as weighing 45g, can anyone using 15x5 confirm this? I Just received a set of APC 15x4 props just for testing purposes with a bunch of new motors I purchased and the weight of the APC 15x4 is 48g...I would think Xoar should be a little more lightweight by at least 8-10g.
Tower Hobbies should correct their details..they have it listed as weighing 45g for a single 15x5 prop. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0001P?I=LXAPML&P=8 I just weighed a Xoar 13x6.5 and it's 20g...so a 15x5 is only 3g heavier than the 13x6.5 how is that possible??
Physics??? Government math, "Like Dude it is really 23 lbs but I'll put down 23g and know one will notice".
Are you absolutely certain? Are you sure you weren't reading the scale upside down? Jeez these APC 15x4s are bricks! It's funny that the APC 13x6.5 weigh 24g and the Xoars 13" are only 4 grams lighter. Certainly not the case with the 15"!
yep I am absolutely positive. Even checked another blade. Exact match at 23.54g. Using a digital gunpowder scale. And I grabbed one of my old APC SF 14x4.7 and it weighs in at 25.22g Strange that the 15's are that much heavier. Also looked at the Xoar Intl site and they also showed the weight at 41g/prop. And that's for the precision PJP-N prop. Looking at the standard electirc PJN prop at 15" it says 30g. So Howard, seriously, really it IS government math
Those who know and love the late Douglas Adams will also recognize this as Bistro Mathematics. See http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Bistromathematics (posted by "Douglas Adam's Ghost"). Andy.
FINALLY Government accounting explained. I has all become clear to me. OOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMM OOOOOOOOOMMMMMMM.
It was also summed by the late Adam Osborne (of Osborne Computer fame): Constants aren't.Variables won't. Andy.
Hey Brad, Hope your well. With your coax setup for the scarlet, which 6s batts are you using and with the 16" props what are your flight times?? Thanks again for your advice. Cheers
Hey Matt I use Thunder Power 6600 45c X 2 which gets me around 6-8 minutes depending on what extras I am carrying. ie remote focus, hd downlink etc. I don't run my batteries low so you probably can get more mileage if you are willing to push them harder. Maybe around 10 minutes or more if you are running a flat octo.
What boom lenght are you using for x8 , Also Brad if you don't mind , my understanding is the you are using 16x5 Xoar is that correct? How do you compare with the 15x5? Thanks
I am using the stock length, 450mm or whatever it is. The 16x5's have a way better hover point for me and 10-12 kg AUW. Less strain and smoother because of it. There were no bad characteristics even with a lighter camera like the 5D3, it flew real nice with the 16's. !5's worked fine with a little less weight but I was in the 65% hover point on my max weights and I like it to be closer to 50%
Can you give me advice how to mount WKM on my coax CS8. My ESC's are mounted on top like this. And I don't know where is the best position to mount WKM, since there is no space on top plate? http://imageshack.us/f/341/imagemir.jpg/ I was thinking to put IMU under the "rear" esc between the plates. Or move that one esc between the plates and put IMU on the top. RX and other WKM components should fit between the plates. Could esc's on the top make any disturbance to the WKM underneath?
I built a simple top plate made out of foam board that sits on the upper center frame. Fastened it down with Velcro and I fastened the ESC's and WKM to it with either double sided tape or Velcro. The WKM IMU goes right in the center.
