Hello, I've currently got a Focus and Iris motor on my movi pro. When I initially calibrate, both motors do there job. Shortly after, like w/in two minutes, the iris motor stops working while the focus motor continues to work fine. I've got a big shoot tomorrow and need to sort this out. Anyone have any suggestions?
I'm using pilot. I'll have to wait til I get back on set to check what firmware. I"ll be there at noon tomorrow and get right back w/ that info.
And it's a Chroziel 100M motor? Make sure you're on firmware 1.4 or above. https://freeflysystems.zendesk.com/...motors-work-with-the-MōVI-Pro-integrated-FIZ- Is this a new problem, or something that you've always experienced?
It is the 100m motors. The system is new to me. This is the first time I'm using the system w/ two motors. Usually I'm using just focus "And if you swap Iris\Focus motors, does it still only stop the motor plugged in to Iris?" If I swap the problem still happens w/ Iris
Cool. I'll check. Is it an easy process to upgrade the firmware? I was going to do it on set earlier but was paranoid of bricking my unit.
It's pretty easy but you need internet access on your phone\app. You would upgrade the Movi Pro via the app on your phone, and then connect your phone to your Mimic... that throws some people off, because you don't often connect your app to the Mimic. But under the main app page, it'll list your connections at the top, and you can tap that to switch from Movi Pro to Mimic. Or turn your Movi Pro off and just have the Mimic\Pilot on when you want to update it, if that helps you.
ok, so I'm currently on v. 1.3.2. I'm trying to update to v.1.5. it's asking me to update the bluetooth on the movi device module or go regular. I've done both and as it starts to go through the cycle it quits and says "OH NO! couldn't;t begin update. Pleas power cycle all devices and try again. Getting freaked out.
Just keep running the update. I've had it quit several times and give the "Oh No!" screen before it could make it all the way through, and I think that's normal.
Well 20 sounds a bit much. I was thinking three or four. Do you know how far it gets in the update before quitting? Often it would update one stage first, then quit, and then move on to the next stage after restarting. And can you update to 1.4 first before going to 1.5?
Iphone v. 11.4.1 when I go to the update it starts me off w/ 1.5 how would I go about getting to 1.4 first?
Hmmm. I actually just did the 1.5 update, and it didn't fail at all. I did the same thing you did -- Bluetooth first, then regular. If Bluetooth failed, I don't think you can move on to Regular, since it's needed first. Which iPhone are you using? I know there was a problem with iPhone X and the iOS a while back when it first came out, but I thought they got it fixed. I'm also using iOS 11.4.1 on an iPhone 7. Also, have you contacted Freefly support?
It wasn't an issue with the iPhone X, it was an issue with iOS 11. We fixed the iOS 11 issue with the Bluetooth update option in the app. I am working with him directly. For anyone following along: Freefly hardware does not need intermediate updates. You can jump from 1.0 to 1.5 without doing any of the updates in between. This hasn't been an issue since we rolled up the Bluetooth update in the app, so we don't have much to go by. Based on his timeframe, my strongest suggestion is to try another device to run the updates.
Thanks Bryan, always learning something new from you. Hope you're doing well. And hopefully this will ultimately fix his original issue with the Chroziel motor.
