Just trying to clean up my 3 axis gimbal wiring.
I have the FFS HDMI converter for video downlink.

Would it be a bad idea to pull the 5V need for that from an empty port on the pan radian?

    Cheers

I don't know the answer to that Mike. Let me see if I can find out how much current you can pass through the Radians.
I'd normally be tempted to say "try it," but in this case, I'd not do that in case you turn the Radian into a one-time fuse.

Let me send an email to the designer of the Radian and see if I can get an answer for you.

    Andy.

I think I have Jeff do this in one of his videos. See this video at the 4:28 spot. Not sure of the draw but I seem to remember it something like .5w for the FF HDMI.

    Hey Mike,

The amount of current for the HDMI converter should not be a problem for the radian.

You might get other issues though by connecting it so close to the servo motor connections. The voltage on the pins can be quite noisy, especially when you have digital servos taking spikes of current. This is the main reason you need a decent power supply to the Radians : it's not for the average current, it's so that it can keep the voltage during the current spikes.

Bottom line is that it is OK to try it - but if you get any issues on the downlink then the first step would be to take the power for the HDMI converter from somewhere else where it is cleaner.

If Plugging FFS HDMI converter into the Radian How would the 2 FFS HDMI wires go into the 3 pin Radian connecter?

Onthefritz, could you please change your user name to your real name. Thank you

The black wire on the converter is the ground. It should be plugged in the match the other grounds from your servo and connection from the other radian.

I will change my name when I get to a computer.
I don't know what of the 3 pins on the Radian is ground and I don't know what pin is power.

Fritz, Signal is closet to the label side of the Radian, Power is in the middle, and ground is next. Standard servo layout.
