Interesting link, Shaun. I'm not quite sure what they say about LiPo is quite true though: As far as the user is concerned, the lithium polymer is essentially the same as the lithium-ion battery. Both use identical cathode and anode material and contain a similar amount of electrolyte. Although the characteristics and performance of the two systems are alike, the Li‑polymer is unique in that a micro porous electrolyte replaces the traditional porous separator. See http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/the_li_polymer_battery_substance_or_hype (emphasis added). Seems to me that LiPo's demand a lot more respect than Li-ions.... Andy.
Thanks Shaun, Glad to know someone else has had similar issues and good to know of a potential work around. I think 3 lipos are bad for sure. I ended up buying 6 8000mah batts. Right before they announced the 9000mah's doh!
I would guess that the batteries degraded during the filed charging in the exposed environment. Maybe you could keep them warm during field charging by coming up with a way to divert heat from the generator to your batteries. Not sure what that that would be though.
I think your right!! Last shoot I put my power supply and charger in a zipped up gym bag while charging, hoping that would warm everything up...
