      HI Bill,
I've recently converted my Gimbal on an Octo that uses a 5208 200T Direct drive, to a belt drive system
I now have a slight issue. when i rotate the octo , the yaw slightly follows it on the direction of the rotation. I have a 65 to 16 gear ratio have tried using the original pole count(14Poles) up to 4x (57Poles) with the issue not changing.
      what am i missing :)

      Thanks in Advance
      Jaime

      Hi Bill,
I have been reading your posts on using Castle Creations Phoenix Lites with T-motors U7's. I am wondering if they are getting really hot without all of the heat sinking of the non lite versions? Thank you for all of your help on the Forums!
      Best,
      James

Motor timing at "High" and PWM rate at 12 kHz and others I used outrunner mode and they seem to work

So for the U7 you set it to High, 12kHz and out runner mode?

You can only use 12khz or outrunner mode not both

      Hi Bill,

I took your advice and went with the 5108 for my gimball and for pan i ordered also a bigger cage (DD). But what will be best GB85-1, the 8108 or the 8017. With aerial i need a bit stronger pan then with the 5108. You have all three motors tested and in hands. I compare weight, torque (GB85-1 i suppose is the strongest) and is it wise to have more poles on pan?

      Thanks in advance,
      Gerard Metz

Gerard my choice of motor is the GB-85 all around, but that's me.
The 8108 is next. and for the 8017 go belt drive, tons of torque.

      hi bill,
i would be also interested in knowing your price for a gimbal that would suit my needs flying with up to a red camera and converting it into a handheld gimbal if needed.
i highly appreciate what you are doing - thanks
      kind regards

You mean 5108 on the pan? I am flying with 15-5 xoars on Kopterworx kw10 motors. I should be able to lift that.
What you mean with not ridged enough?
        Thank you reno

The tubes are thinner and they might flex. My tubes are 25x23mm, theirs are 25x23.5mm

Sometimes when you squeeze the metal clamps they might crack.

hi bill, i am also following the coversion site - great job mate.
bedcause of your experience with bl motors i just wanted to know if you could help me out deciding if this gimbal :BG004 Famoushobby 3 axis Brushless Gimbal/handle camera gimbal/Red Gimbal(with 3pcs 8017motors) would be good for handheld and flying with a red. or what you would suggest.
      kind regards

The gimbal is good but they use a 25mm x 23.5mm tubing and is not ridged enough. If you use the 8017's is good but a bit heavy for aerial platform.
5108's are better with belt reduction.

      hello Bill
I have a question. You made several brushless gimbals an inspired me to start a conversion from my cinestar. I carry a gh3 or a Nikon d800, so no red epic but on camera stuff i would say a maximum of 2,5 kg i am looking for a starting point wich motors to go. Would gb85 be a good starting point direct driven on all Axes or would that be to much.
      regards
      Gerard

GB-85 would be too heavy for aerial platform.
I would go with the 5108"s

Tank you Bill. You would use the 5108 before the 5208 because of resolution i suppose? But what with the pan axe would it be better to go with 5108 with belt or heavier motor direct driven (8017). I am also thinking of using G-lock instaed of alexmos. Any tgoughts on that?

      Hi Bill,
Shall I send across Tarrot or RC Timer Gimbal to you...I wanted the mechanical parts to convert my gimbal to Brushless Gimbal...a new motor has come with 180 turns and they are selling in a pack of three...would like to try this...I might go on the same path as you did one Aleximos and for Pan Tarrot...it would work great...
      1. Bill Collydas
        Bill Collydas
Hi Raju, I prefer the RcTimer. The Tarot has dampers on it which is too stiff for the brushless setup. RCtimer is like the Cinestar.
        Cheers

      Hey Bill!

Been reading through your brushless gimbal build log on the forum and was wondering where you found those tilt and roll shafts that connect to the motor and are the same or larger diameter than the tilt bar clamps, been working on mine and cant seem to find a good solution for shaft on tilt and roll that connect to motors.. Would appreciate your help!

      Thanks!

I had them made by a machine shop locally. When I placed my order for 50 units he refused to do them saying is not worth his time.

Appreciate it Bill! hopefully i can either find a flange piece for a shaft to go into that will mount on the motor mount or get into the machine shop sometime this week. Once again well done with the build.. ill be following

Is it possible to use radians for brushless gimbal control, instead of Martinez or Alex board?

      Hi Bill,
I was just wondering if you would be selling the items required to make the 3 axis brushless. I have spent months trying to dial in the roll axis with not much luck! If you are going to sell the required parts please put me down for a set, the work you have done looks awesome!!

Keep up the great work Bill,

      Marty
