I knew that sooner or later we would get a DP asking us to fly the new Sony Venice. At 8lb, 10oz it appears to be a little out of the league of the ALTA8/MoVI PRO unless, perhaps we would talk them into flight weight cine lenses and no lens motors which is unlikely. Has anyone flown this camera with Freefly gear? The only thing I can find online is people flying it with that crazy yet awesome looking Shotover U1.
My DP steered me to this product today - https://store.ignitedigi.com.au/collections/camera-movi-plates/products/movi-pro-tilt-cage-offsetts . Ignite Digi appear to have a lot of very creative solutions for Freefly (and DJI) products that increase our abilities as film makers. These include the offset plate and a custom MoVI Sony Venice mount. I am happy to have discovered this gear but I have to wonder why no one on this forum turned me on to it before my client did... Aren't we supposed to be the experts..?
Venice balanced on MPro w/Ignite digi offsets / rehoused Leica-r / redrock micro for focus/iris flown on a custom heavylift - but the Movi Pro held up well.
Yes, we came to the very same conclusion... Thanks! Out of interest, what drone are you flying that package with?
Hey Tom, Just found this post sorry! We just had the Sony Venice down in our office over the weekend. You can see some of the details here, inc. all up weight etc.: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bp09woFhr6t/
Although we love our Alta8 and moviPro, we've taken two years to legalise our 62kg CAA licenced BFD drone and used the Ronin2 to get the Sony venice and full production package airborne... we get 12 to 15 mins flight time - depending on the weather
