I need to record 10bit UHD with the Sony FS5 (for HDR), and are therefore using the Atomos Inferno with the camera as a recorder. But I am not getting the rig to work satisfactory on the Movi Pro. Hoping you can help me: Are there any accessories to attach the FS5-monitor to the Movi ring? When I record to the Inferno I can not have the camerasettings up, or it will be recorded. And what kind of cable can I use to lengthen it? Same question regarding the handgrip from the FS5. How can I attach it to the ring. I have seen solutions for the Ronin, but not for the Movi. Are there any recommended accessories?
Hello. Perhaps this is the wrong section of the forum to ask this, so please tell me if I should move it. And where it may belong.
Hi Ole-Andre, I'm flying nearly the same setup, except instead of Inferno I'm recording on Odyssey 7Q. Monitor: I've dismounted the FS5 handgrip and mounted the monitor directly to the one of the upper rod's of the MoVI cage and use it as a counterbalance weight. I don't think there is anything to lengthen the FS5 monitor cable. Handgrip: https://www.smallrig.com/smallrig-3...-ronin-freefly-movi-pro-stabilizers-1925.html https://www.smallrig.com/smallrig-handgrip-rosette-adapter-for-sony-fs7-fs7ii-1887.html https://www.smallrig.com/smallrig-coiled-male-to-female-2-5mm-lanc-extension-cable-2201.html or https://www.smallrig.com/smallrig-arri-standard-rosette-bolt-on-mount-m6-thread-1939.html https://www.smallrig.com/smallrig-arri-rosette-arm-1684.html (plus 2nd screw) Hope this helps, best Gerfried
Hi Gerfried Guggi, Have you managed to figure out a solution to your problems, as I am in the same boat as yourself. If so do you have any links/images/videos etc? I am looking to also record audio out of the FS5II while using the movi. Of course the handle is too big and won't work with the movi, have you found any solutions?
Not sure if I get your question... can you specify? I‘ve posted solutions for mounting the handgrip to the MoVI ring above.
Sorry if it wasn't clear. I am looking to put together this rig. Sony FS5II Movi Pro Atomos Shogun Inferno PD Movie Live Air - Follow Focus. I am having a couple of issues doing so. As you know you need to have the LCD monitor of the FS5II attached to it to display the menu's. The original placement for this is of course on the top handle. However trying to mount the FS5II and top handle isn't possible without it falling. I am looking for a solution to put all of this rig together including recording high quality audio. My question being how have you managed to put your rig together so it works effectively? I am also having issues displaying the correct image from the FS5II via SDI to record externally into the Atomos Shogun Inferno, as it is only displaying the menus from the FS5II rather than just the image. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thank you. Ranald Lloyd-Williams
ad Atomos Shogun Inferno: You can choose in the FS5 menus to only display the menus on the 'internal' monitor. But more important I think is to choose if you want to output a video signal to the external recorder or the RAW signal. Later offers you the full potential of the FS5/Shogun combo. In the record options you have to choose RAW output. ad LCD: As written above, I also removed the top handle and did mount the Sony LCD to the vertical rods of the MoVI cage, which are standard 15mm rods as the stud that sits on the FS5 top handle. Works perfectly for me. ad audio: If you remove the top handle you loose one XLR input. One XLR input remains on the body. If I work with a dedicated sound guy, I get a scratch sound over Sennheiser G3 wireless which goes into that XLR. Sennheiser receiver mounted (gaffer tape) where balance allows (eg. top of camera, MoVI cage ...). I also used small shotgun mics mounted to the MoVI Ring with a small super clamp (https://www.smallrig.com/smallrig-super-clamp-w-1-4-and-3-8-thread-735.html) via the 1/4" thread. If you want to use the hand grip of the FS5 to control the camera, you can mount a rosette to the above mentioned super clamp, a rosette into your side grip and merge those two with a short rosette arm. You need to extend the LANC-cable. https://www.smallrig.com/smallrig-sony-fs5-handgrip-adapter-with-arri-rosette-2192.html Hope that clarifies some of your needs best G
