    Hi Wade,

What’s the microphone? Looks like you are using the iPhone’s analogue to digital converter and preamp. Correct?

    Cheers

Not at all, I’m using a ZOOM f1-Sp external audio recorder, I leave the iphOnes lighting port open so I can use a power bank to charge the phone, the movi and the zoom if needed. It’s an added issue with syncing audio in post, but I’m getting clean sound and able to record for much longer

Cool. I saw Zoom on the mike in the photo, but didn't make the connection. Interesting rig:

Looks to me like you’re trying to bang a square peg into a round hole.

I don’t see the point of rigging a unit designed to be a small, powerful and portable device into one of Terminator’s testicles.

As for audio- if you’re recording a piece to camera why not use the recorder as a lav mic? I don’t understand why you’d want to be carrying a mic around as well as the MCR.

I don’t use the iPhone’s or RX0’s mike and analogue to digital converter because I get considerably better sound by using a separate mike and separate converter.

For one thing, I can shoot the video from one position and record the audio from a different position close to the source of the sound.
